My Thoughts on He Came From the Grave
"He Came From the Grave" promised a delicious blend of apocalypse, cultivation, and romance, and while it delivered on some fronts, it stumbled in others. Overall, I found it to be an interesting, if flawed, read.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the premise. A reborn MC navigating a zombie apocalypse with a magical space and a doting love interest? Sign me up! The early chapters drew me in with the promise of adventure and the mystery surrounding the MC's past.
What Works Well
The romance, for the most part, is a definite highlight. The ML is the clingy, slightly scary type, fiercely protective and undeniably devoted. I particularly enjoyed the exploration of their past lives and the interconnectedness of their destinies. It added a layer of depth to their relationship that resonated with me. The unique blend of genres also stood out. The integration of Daoism, supernatural elements, and even mpreg into the apocalyptic setting created a world that felt both familiar and refreshingly original.
Areas of Concern
However, the novel isn't without its problems. Translation quality seems to be a recurring issue, with some readers struggling to decipher the text. The pacing also felt off at times, and I noticed a few plot holes that detracted from the overall experience. The ease with which characters traveled during the apocalypse, and the naivety of some political figures, felt a bit jarring and inconsistent with the established world.
