This can be read as a stand alone. ______ ¹打脸 (dǎ liǎn) – Literally, it means “to slap one’s face.” Figuratively, means to be proven wrong, to eat one’s words. ²磨鏡 (mó jìng) euphemism referring to having lesbian s*xual relations, where both parties get a certain degree of s*xual satisfaction from rubbing or stroking each other’s bodies. Since both parties have the same body structure, it seems that they are grinding together with a mirror placed in the middle.

"Has The Young Master Been Slapped In The Face Today?" is a delightful yuri novel set in ancient times that I found myself thoroughly enjoying. It's a blend of comedy, historical elements, martial arts, and a sweet romance that really hit the spot.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed my attention: a "tick headed" young master, Meng Chang'an, must masquerade as her twin brother to marry the seemingly scheming Princess Li Qiubai. But what appears to be a political marriage of convenience quickly transforms into a charming love story. I was particularly drawn to the initial setup, and eager to see how the relationship would unfold.
What Works Well
The romance is definitely a highlight. The dynamic between the innocent Meng Chang'an and the seductive, lovestruck Princess is hilarious and heartwarming. Li Qiubai's constant teasing and doting on Chang'an creates plenty of fluffy, smile-inducing moments. I especially appreciated how the author balanced the lighthearted romance with a more serious underlying plot involving court intrigue and war. It kept things interesting without overshadowing the central relationship. The character development, while perhaps not incredibly deep, was satisfying. Chang'an's endearing nature shines through, making it easy to understand why everyone around her cherishes her.
Areas of Concern
While I mostly enjoyed the story, I did notice some minor issues. The pacing seemed to falter a bit towards the later part of the novel. It felt like the author might have lost some direction, leading to a slightly rushed and less focused narrative. Also, while the side characters were interesting, the secondary couple could have benefited from more development. I wanted to see more of their inner thoughts and personalities.
