My Thoughts on God’s Love Game
"God's Love Game" is quite the mixed bag, and diving into it was definitely an experience. With its blend of fantasy, horror, and yaoi, it promises a thrilling ride, but the execution is a bit uneven. I found myself intrigued by some aspects and underwhelmed by others.
First Impressions
The premise of a blind protagonist navigating deadly games with a powerful love interest immediately grabbed my attention. The "unlimited flow" concept, where characters are trapped in a cycle of survival through instances, is usually right up my alley. However, I quickly realized that the focus leans heavily towards the romance, with the game aspects sometimes feeling secondary.
What Works Well
Despite some criticisms, the core concept has potential. I appreciate the protagonist's cunning and intelligence, especially in the early arcs. The male lead, Yu Su, is also well-received by many, described as unexpectedly cute and a good match for the protagonist. The initial monsterization premise also had a lot of promise, though I feel it wasn't fully explored.
Areas of Concern
One major issue seems to be the pacing. Some found the relationship development rushed and the mystery-solving in the instances unsatisfying. The puzzles sometimes feel forced, leaving a sense of "Huh?" rather than genuine satisfaction. Additionally, the translation quality seems inconsistent, potentially hindering the reader's understanding of the plot and character motivations. I also noticed concerns about the balance of power within the main relationship, with some feeling the protagonist is coerced or overly reliant on the male lead. The shift in the protagonist's character later in the novel, becoming more vicious and arrogant, didn't sit well with everyone either.

If you're primarily interested in a yaoi romance with a supernatural backdrop and don't mind some uneven pacing and potentially problematic themes, it might be worth a try. However, if you're seeking a tightly plotted, well-balanced unlimited flow story with compelling puzzles and character development, you might be disappointed. Ultimately, I think it's a novel that depends heavily on individual preferences and tolerance for its flaws.
