My Thoughts on God of Crime
"God of Crime" pulled me in with its intriguing premise: a man sentenced to death gets a second chance, armed with criminal skills. The blend of action, psychological elements, and a touch of the supernatural was certainly a hook. However, after diving in, I found myself with mixed feelings.
First Impressions
The initial chapters were strong. I was immediately drawn into the MC's plight and the mystery surrounding his situation. The idea of a protagonist using criminal skills for, well, not-so-criminal purposes felt fresh. I appreciated the concept of him becoming a symbol of crime while actually fighting it. The early arcs had me hooked, eager to see how he'd navigate his newfound abilities.
What Works Well
The core story is undeniably compelling. The "criminal eats criminal" vibe, as one reader put it, is definitely there. The MC's growth, albeit sometimes inconsistent, is a key draw. Seeing him grapple with his powers and the potential for corruption added a layer of depth. The action sequences are well-written, and the author does a solid job of stringing together various plot arcs. I also appreciated the limits placed on the MC's abilities, even if those limits were occasionally bent.
Areas of Concern
However, the execution falters in several areas. The pacing, particularly towards the end, feels rushed. Several reviewers pointed out that the ending felt abrupt, leaving numerous loose ends and underdeveloped side characters. I also found the MC's intelligence to be inconsistent at times, making it difficult to fully invest in his character. It's hard to reconcile him being a mastermind criminal when he sometimes makes illogical decisions. The constant coincidences and reliance on luck also stretched my suspension of disbelief.

Final Verdict
"God of Crime" is a decent read with a lot of potential, but it ultimately falls short of its promise. The intriguing premise and action-packed plot are enough to keep you entertained, but the rushed ending, inconsistent character development, and reliance on plot conveniences hold it back. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5. Worth a read if you're looking for something different, but don't expect a masterpiece.
