Description

My Thoughts on Food Soul Chart
"Food Soul Chart" is quite the ride, a blend of genres that kept me guessing until the very end. Diving into this novel was a bit like stepping into a haunted house, but one where the ghosts have surprisingly complex backstories and maybe even a little romance.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of something different from the usual danmei fare. The touches of horror definitely piqued my interest, and I was curious to see how the author would balance that with elements of school life, romance, and even xuanhuan. The premise is intriguing, and I was eager to see how it all unfolded.
What Works Well
I really appreciated the unique storyline and the way the author blended so many different genres. The character growth throughout the story is also well done, as the MC and ML navigate their complicated relationship and the challenges they face. The plot kept me hooked, especially with the mystery surrounding the scattered pieces of the lamp and the former gang. The love story between the MC and ML is definitely a slow burn, with plenty of emotional twists and turns along the way. I found myself rooting for them to overcome their obstacles and find happiness together.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, I have to admit that the translation could be improved. There were moments where the writing felt a bit messy and confusing, making it difficult to fully visualize the scenes. This definitely detracted from my reading experience and required me to reread certain passages to fully understand what was happening. Additionally, the shift from a more horror-focused beginning to a xuanhuan-heavy later part of the story felt a bit jarring at times. Some parts of the story could benefit from more fleshing out to create a more cohesive and immersive experience.
Final Verdict
Despite some minor drawbacks, "Food Soul Chart" is a worthwhile read for those who enjoy a unique blend of genres and a slow-burn romance. If you're willing to overlook some translation issues, you'll find a captivating story with memorable characters and a satisfying conclusion. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for something a little different from the norm.
