The initial chapters pulled me in quickly. The female lead's backstory, though potentially triggering for some, provided a compelling foundation for her character. It immediately established a sense of vulnerability and resilience that made me root for her success, both in her career and in love.
What Works Well
The core strength of "Fame" lies in its romance. The male lead is undeniably endearing, with his unwavering devotion and slightly tragic backstory. The dynamic between the two leads is genuinely sweet, with a touch of push-and-pull that kept me engaged. I particularly enjoyed how the novel explores their individual career journeys alongside their relationship, adding a layer of complexity to their interactions. The novel really shines in its depiction of a supportive and loving relationship that blossoms amidst the pressures of fame. I appreciated the focus on their present and future, rather than dwelling solely on their difficult pasts.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, there were a few elements that gave me pause. The "drama" stemming from public perception sometimes felt contrived and relied on somewhat illogical reasoning. It's a common trope in these kinds of stories, but in a few instances, it stretched my suspension of disbelief. The pacing also faltered towards the end, with the story dragging on a bit longer than necessary.
