My Thoughts on Endless Love

"Endless Love" promised a sweet blend of comedy, romance, and slice-of-life moments set against the backdrop of college life and online gaming. As a fan of all those things, I dove in eager for a lighthearted read. Overall, it delivered on some fronts, but stumbled a bit in others, leaving me with mixed feelings.

First Impressions

The initial setup is charming. We're introduced to our female lead, ASD, and the story quickly establishes the online game world that plays a significant role. The early chapters are heavy on the comedic elements, and I found myself chuckling at the interactions and situations. The premise of lovers reunited after an online encounter definitely piqued my interest, and the "love interest falls in love first" trope is always something I enjoy.

What Works Well

The humor is definitely a strong point. The author has a knack for creating funny scenarios, particularly within the gaming context. I also appreciated the "devoted love interest" aspect of QWE. His unwavering affection for ASD, even when she's oblivious or perhaps a little frustrating, is endearing. I found myself rooting for him throughout the story. The extra chapters from QWE's point of view were a real highlight for me. They offered a much deeper understanding of his feelings and made him a truly compelling character. The later parts of the story, where ASD becomes more decisive and the relationship progresses, were also enjoyable. Seeing their eventual confession and the events leading up to it was genuinely fun.

This initial dynamic made it difficult for me to fully invest in the romance. I also felt that the transition from ASD's initial indifference (or even dislike) to genuine love for QWE could have been explored with more depth. The shift felt a bit rushed, leaving me wanting more substance.

Final Verdict

"Endless Love" is an enjoyable read, especially if you're looking for a lighthearted and comedic story with a sweet romance. However, be prepared for some initial frustrations with the female lead's character. The humor and the devoted love interest make it worthwhile, but the romance could have benefited from more nuanced development. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
