The addition of adopted children and pets also seemed like a charming twist, adding a slice-of-life element to the grim setting.

The dynamic between the characters is definitely a highlight. I found myself enjoying the family interactions, especially the heartwarming moments between the MC, ML, and their adopted children. The romance, while perhaps a bit cliché with the doting gong and sweet shou dynamic, was a welcome addition to the story. Many readers will appreciate the author's world-building, creating a novel quite different from other apocalyptic stories. The pacing is also great, making for a fun read.
