Description
A fiery and sharp character x a gentle and cunning partner. After countless plans and schemes, she ends up being ensnared himself. One is proud and fiery, the other is gentle and cunning. One is a straightforward modern girl obsessed with romance, and the other is a charming and sly prince with hidden motives. “What do you think of my nephew’s looks, crown princess?” “Handsome,” someone’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “How handsome?” “Handsome enough to make me feel butterflies in my stomach!” “Lian Rong, how dare you! Your claws are nearly poking inside my womb, don’t even think about me having a chance to rise again.” “My beloved is right, how about we battle another three hundred rounds in this lovely place?” “Did you even hear what I said?” “My beloved’s warm invitation is hard to refuse; this king dares not waste such a beautiful evening.”

My Thoughts on Don’t Call Me Your Wife (GL)
"Don’t Call Me Your Wife (GL)" is a wild ride, to say the least. It throws you headfirst into a world of ancient empires, political intrigue, and a romance that’s… complicated. While I appreciate the ambition and the potential for a compelling story, the execution left me with mixed feelings.
First Impressions
The premise is intriguing: a modern woman, betrayed by her sister and boyfriend, dies and transmigrates into the body of a "fool" in ancient times. Right off the bat, that's a lot to unpack. The initial chapters are a whirlwind of forced kisses, unwanted advances from a half-brother, and a general sense of the MC being utterly unprepared for the cutthroat reality of her new life.
What Works Well
Despite my reservations, the world-building has potential. The idea of a female emperor with a harem, the power dynamics between the characters, and the backdrop of ancient court life are all compelling. There are glimpses of clever plotting and strategic maneuvering, particularly from the "love interest," who seems to wield considerable influence. The potential for a strong female lead who navigates this complex world is definitely present, even if it's not fully realized.
Areas of Concern
However, I struggled with the MC's characterization and some of the plot developments. Her naivete, despite supposedly watching "ancient dramas," felt frustrating at times. Her dependence on others and apparent lack of self-preservation skills made it difficult for me to connect with her. Then there's the problematic relationship with her half-brother, which veers into uncomfortable territory. And the "love interest," while powerful, often comes across as forceful and manipulative, blurring the lines of consent. The fact that the MC herself admits to harboring feelings for another character also muddies the romantic waters.

Final Verdict
"Don’t Call Me Your Wife (GL)" is a novel brimming with potential, but it's hampered by questionable character choices and plot contrivances. If you're looking for a straightforward, feel-good yuri romance, this probably isn't it. However, if you're willing to wade through some messy relationships and frustrating character decisions for a potentially rewarding story, it might be worth a try. I'd give it a tentative 2.5/5.
