Description
What is a Daoist Master? One that is imageless in ten directions and vanishes in the six paths; unrestrained by the three realms and the five elements. After a day at the clinic, Dr. Li Feng met with an accident on his way home. When he regained consciousness, Li Feng found himself in the body of a weak teenage boy who was born out of wedlock, Shen Lian. Who was the father? The mother would not tell. A scripture he found among his mother’s remnants was the only thing he knew about his father. The mother came from a wealthy and well known family. When Shen Lian was recalled back to the Shen family, he was entitled for part of the grandfather’s inheritance and businesses. Despite the grand value, Shen Lian did not take a cent with him when he decided to leave the family. Why would he leave this comfortable life behind? His journey with this new identity brought him into this new world as he travelled between realms in search of knowledge to improve his Daoist skills. As he conquered trial after trial, would he become the chosen one? Will he succeed in becoming the Daoist Master? Only time will tell.

My Thoughts on Daoist Master of Qing Xuan
Daoist Master of Qing Xuan presents an interesting premise: a transmigrated doctor navigating the complex world of Xianxia. I went into this novel hoping for a unique take on the genre, but my experience was a mixed bag. While it offers some compelling elements, several issues kept me from fully enjoying the journey.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the idea of a protagonist with a scientific background adapting to a world of cultivation. The early chapters, however, felt somewhat disjointed. The narrative jumps around, making it difficult to get a solid grasp of the initial setup and character motivations. This lack of clarity made it hard to connect with the main character, Shen Lian, early on.
What Works Well
Despite the initial stumbles, the novel does have its strengths. Many readers seem to appreciate the faster pace of cultivation compared to other Xianxia novels. Also, the mystery surrounding Shen Lian's path to becoming a Daoist and the relatively limited scope of the universe (compared to the endless realms some stories introduce) were refreshing changes of pace. The idea of a single, achievable peak of cultivation – becoming a Daoist Master or Buddha – offers a sense of closure that's often missing in the genre.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, several aspects of the story detracted from my enjoyment. The writing style, particularly the heavy reliance on Chinese poetry, proverbs, and idioms, can feel overwhelming and, at times, poorly translated. This made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the world.
The plot also seemed to rely heavily on repetitive tropes, especially kidnappings. It felt like every other character close to Shen Lian was constantly being abducted, which became tiresome and predictable. The main character's recklessness, bordering on suicidal tendencies, also strained my suspension of disbelief. While some might find his "carefree" attitude appealing, I found it frustrating and inconsistent with his supposed intelligence and resourcefulness. The reliance on plot armor to save him from these situations further diminished the impact of the story.

Final Verdict
Daoist Master of Qing Xuan has potential, but ultimately falls short due to inconsistent writing, repetitive plot devices, and a protagonist whose actions often defy logic. While the faster cultivation pace and limited scope might appeal to some, I found the overall experience to be uneven and ultimately disappointing. I'd recommend approaching this novel with caution and a willingness to overlook its flaws.
