Description

I want his reputation to go down.” Nie Zihang arched his brow. “Oh? More information would be appreciated.” Only then did he learn that Yu Jingxuan was also engaged in AA relationships. My Thoughts on Bottom A, Top O
"Bottom A, Top O" promised a fluffy, role-reversal omegaverse story, and for the most part, it delivered a sweet and enjoyable experience. It's a quick read, perfect for when you need a dose of pure, unadulterated fluff. While it wasn't without its minor flaws, the overall experience left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed my attention: an Omega top and an Alpha bottom navigating a society that struggles to understand their preferences. The initial chapters are undeniably cute, showcasing the blossoming relationship between Nie Zihang and Yu Jingxuan. I was intrigued by the societal commentary hinted at in the beginning, where both leads are considered "gay" for liking their own secondary gender.
What Works Well
The core of this novel is the sweet and wholesome relationship between the main characters. Yu Jingxuan, the Alpha bottom, is undeniably precious, and Nie Zihang, the Omega top, is a gentle and affectionate partner. Many readers, including myself, appreciated the lack of forced pheromone-driven interactions, which is a refreshing change from many omegaverse stories. The story also touches on themes of societal expectations and the courage to defy them. I also enjoyed that the story is told from the perspective of the MC.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the fluff, I can see why some readers found the characterizations a bit stereotypical despite the role reversal. The Alpha bottom, in particular, seemed to lose some of his initial strength and reliability as the story progressed, becoming overly submissive. I also noticed that the translation quality seemed to dip later in the story, becoming somewhat stilted and redundant.
