My Thoughts on Blazing Sun Book 2
After diving into "Blazing Sun Book 2," I have some definite thoughts. As a fan of josei and office romances, I was eager to see where this story would go after the first book, and overall, I found it to be a satisfying continuation, though not without a few minor shortcomings.
First Impressions
My initial feeling upon finishing the book was relief. The first book left me with some anxiety, and I’m glad to see a more settled, mature relationship take center stage. The premise of a couple supporting each other's growth is always something I enjoy, and this book seemed to deliver that in spades.
What Works Well
The central relationship between Xiguang and Lin Yusen is undoubtedly the heart of this novel. I appreciated that their bond only deepened, with plenty of sweet and supportive moments. I particularly liked seeing Xiguang's character development as she steps into a more powerful role within the company. She's not portrayed as naive, but rather as a capable woman who is protective of those she loves. The fact that the couple doesn't break up is a huge win for me; I'm not always a fan of unnecessary melodrama, and it was refreshing to see a healthy relationship portrayed. Lin Yusen continues to be a wonderful male lead, supportive and understanding. The overall tone is more low-key than the first book, focusing on the "dazzling ordinary" of their lives together, which I personally enjoyed.
Areas of Concern
While I generally enjoyed the book, I did find myself wanting a bit more depth in certain areas. I was particularly curious about Xiguang's relationship with her father and stepsister. This subplot felt somewhat unresolved, and I would have appreciated more development in that area. I also felt like I wanted to see more of Xiguang's progression in her new role and Lin Yusen pursuing his passions.

Overall, I would recommend "Blazing Sun Book 2" to fans of the first book and readers who enjoy mature, supportive romances. While it has a few minor shortcomings in terms of resolving certain subplots, the central relationship is strong and satisfying. It's a worthwhile read that provides closure and adds depth to the characters we grew to love in the first book.
