My Thoughts on Awakening the Daily Intelligence System at Thirty
I dove into "Awakening the Daily Intelligence System at Thirty" with high hopes. The premise of a mature protagonist suddenly gaining a system in his thirties, navigating family life, and building a business sounded like a fresh take on the genre. However, my experience ended up being a mixed bag, to say the least.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked. The early chapters successfully drew me into the protagonist's world. There was a certain charm in seeing him juggle his responsibilities as a husband and father while adapting to his newfound abilities. The slice-of-life elements were well-executed, and I found myself invested in his family's well-being. The business-building aspect was also quite engaging, and I was eager to see how he would leverage his intelligence system to achieve success.
What Works Well
The initial focus on family and the protagonist's dedication to them is definitely a strong point. The author clearly aimed to portray a loving and supportive family dynamic, and in the beginning, it worked quite well. The idea of a mature protagonist, rather than a teenager, dealing with supernatural powers was also a welcome change.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the story seemed to lose its way as it progressed. I found myself increasingly frustrated with the plot developments, particularly the shift towards an "underworld revenge seeking" arc. This felt jarring and out of place compared to the initial slice-of-life focus. It felt like the author couldn't decide what kind of story they wanted to tell.
The system itself also seemed to stagnate. I expected to see significant upgrades and advancements, but it remained relatively unchanged, which felt like a missed opportunity. Moreover, the handling of certain characters raised some red flags for me. The portrayal of the wife, seemingly resigned to the possibility of her husband's infidelity, felt bizarre and unsettling. I also found the depiction of new characters to be somewhat lacking in depth and nuance.

I would recommend approaching this novel with caution, as the initial promise may not be fully realized.
