"After Worshipping the God" was a surprisingly emotional journey, and I'm glad I took the time to read it. It's a blend of fantasy, romance, and drama that, while not perfect, definitely left a lasting impression. It's a story that takes itself seriously, exploring darker themes while balancing them with a sweet and heartwarming romance.

Initially, I was a little wary. The synopsis hinted at something lighthearted, maybe even comedic. However, I quickly realized there was a depth to this story I hadn't anticipated. The beginning has a thriller-like quality, drawing you in with mysteries surrounding the MC and the god he worships. I was immediately curious to unravel the secrets.

What Works Well

One of the strongest aspects is the character development, especially the MC, Jian Shu. He could have easily fallen into the "annoying white lotus" trope, but he's portrayed as pragmatically optimistic. I really appreciated how he focused on moving forward and making the best of his circumstances instead of dwelling on past hardships. His ability to find the positive and learn from difficulties made him a very compelling character.

The relationship between Jian Shu and Pei Ce, the ML, is another highlight. It's a healing and surprisingly equal dynamic, considering one is a god. The author does a great job of justifying Pei Ce's "golden finger" status through his backstory and Jian Shu's unwavering support. Their devotion to each other is genuinely touching, and the romance is developed at a good pace. I also found the exploration of jealousy and its consequences to be a thought-provoking element of the story. The novel is relatively short, which I appreciated, because the plot is compact and there aren’t any weak arcs.

Areas of Concern

While I enjoyed the overall story, some parts felt a bit disjointed, particularly in the middle. This created a sense of mystery, but also left me with a feeling of unfulfilled satisfaction in certain areas. Additionally, the god's death and reincarnation segment was a little difficult to follow, mainly because of the complex timelines involved.
