My Thoughts on After I Died, The Male Leads Became Strange
"After I Died, The Male Leads Became Strange" promised a unique twist on the reincarnation trope, and after diving in, I found myself with mixed feelings. It's a story that definitely has its strengths, particularly in its comedic elements and the dynamic between the female lead and her, shall we say, enthusiastic admirers. However, some recurring issues held it back from being a truly standout read for me.
First Impressions
The initial setup is intriguing. Jella, our FL, gets a second chance after fulfilling her villainess role in a past life. Reincarnated as a commoner, she hopes for a normal life, but fate, and three very persistent male leads, have other plans. The fact that the MLs recognize her immediately, despite her different appearance, was a refreshing change from the usual reincarnation amnesia trope. I was immediately drawn in by the comedic potential of the situation.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. I found myself chuckling at Jella's interactions with the male leads, especially their "unhinged" behavior. The story doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's a big part of its charm. I also appreciated that Jella is a capable and proactive character. She isn't a damsel in distress, nor is she an unrealistically perfect "badass." She's strong, but also vulnerable, making her relatable. Her no-nonsense attitude and willingness to voice her thoughts made her a fun protagonist to follow. I also enjoyed how she takes control of an underworld group and turns it into her own business.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the constant misunderstandings. While some miscommunication can create tension, it felt overdone here. Jella's "dense barrier" when it comes to the male leads' feelings became frustrating. I also found the male leads to be somewhat similar in character, which made it difficult to distinguish them at times beyond their roles. The plot can also feel a bit cliché at times.

Final Verdict
"After I Died, The Male Leads Became Strange" is a decent read if you're looking for a lighthearted and comedic fantasy romance. While it has its flaws, the humor and the strong female lead make it an enjoyable experience. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for something fun and don't mind a bit of romantic denseness.
