The Insect Queen never needed the insectoids; the insectoid race needed the Insect Queen. The bond between the insectoid race and the queen is founded upon a deeply ingrained love within the species, a love that’s engraved in their genes. She was meant to be the most generous gift from the creator. Their most painful realization was that the moment the pheromone connection was severed, they would forever lose her, as they wished in the beginning.

"Absolute Submission" throws you headfirst into a futuristic omegaverse with aliens, betrayals, and a whole lot of angst. As a fan of the genre, I was immediately intrigued by the premise of a Zerg Queen hiding amongst humans and the drama that ensues.
First Impressions
The initial setup is fantastic: a female lead (FL) who's essentially the most powerful being in the Zerg universe but is desperately trying to avoid that destiny. Her solution to hide her pheromones – pretending to be an omega and getting marked by human alphas – is a clever way to kick off the story and introduce the initial love interests. The tension between her desire for a normal life and the looming threat of her true identity is palpable.
What Works Well
The wife-chasing crematorium arc is where this novel truly shines. The idea of the Zerg leaders, who initially despise and even try to kill the FL, being forced to confront their actions and desperately seek her forgiveness is incredibly appealing. The emotional abuse they endure due to their past behavior adds a delicious layer of complexity. I'm a sucker for well-executed regret and redemption arcs, and it sounds like this novel delivers that in spades. The plot itself is surprisingly engaging, even with the NSFW content.
