"A Professional Avenger" promised a unique spin on the Quick Transmigration (QT) genre, and I dove in eager to see if it delivered. With its assassin protagonist and focus on efficiency, it certainly carved out a distinct space for itself.

Right off the bat, I was struck by the novel's fast pace. Each arc is short, clocking in at around seven chapters, which meant I was zipping through worlds at breakneck speed. This initially felt refreshing, especially after wading through some of the more long-winded revenge plots in other QT novels. The premise of a protagonist who just... kills the scum instead of rehabilitating them was also immediately appealing.

What Works Well

The MC, Lin Yuetian, is a fascinating character. He's a professional through and through, treating his assassination tasks with a detached efficiency that's both hilarious and compelling. I appreciated his lack of moral grandstanding; he's simply doing a job and getting paid. The dark humor woven throughout the story, especially in the interactions between the MC and his increasingly traumatized system, Angola, is a definite highlight. The novel is undeniably cathartic, especially for those of us who are tired of reading about protagonists who are endlessly abused or who forgive the unforgivable. The straightforward approach to revenge – just eliminating the problem – is strangely satisfying. I also loved the variety of methods the MC uses to dispatch his targets; it kept things interesting and often darkly comedic.

Areas of Concern

The rapid pacing, while initially appealing, did become a slight drawback for me. The arcs are so short that I sometimes struggled to fully invest in the world and characters before moving on to the next. While the lack of romance (NO CP) was a plus for some, it might disappoint readers looking for a love interest. Finally, if you're someone who prefers a morally upright protagonist, Lin Yuetian's pragmatic approach to killing might not sit well with you.

Overall, I found "A Professional Avenger" to be a fun, quick, and refreshing read. It's a great palate cleanser after heavier novels, and the MC's unique approach to problem-solving is undeniably entertaining.
