Description

I appreciated that the romance wasn't overly dramatic or angsty; instead, it felt like a natural progression as they reconnected and navigated the challenges thrown their way. The author does a great job of making you root for them.
The mystery itself, while perhaps not the most intricate I've encountered, was still enjoyable. The story doles out clues at a steady pace, keeping you guessing and piecing together the puzzle alongside the protagonists. I also found the exploration of the characters' mental and psychological states to be a strong point, adding a layer of complexity to the narrative. The author avoids the common trope of making the male lead an overbearing "male god," which I appreciated. Instead, both characters felt independent and well-developed. The strong friendships depicted were also a plus, adding warmth to the darker elements of the story.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall experience, the resolution of the central mystery felt a bit rushed. The villain's reveal and the explanation of their motives required a bit of exposition dumping near the end, which detracted from the tension that had been building. I would have preferred a more gradual unveiling of the truth.
