My Thoughts on Top Management

"Top Management" initially caught my eye with its premise: a cinephile turned manager gaining precognitive abilities in the cutthroat Korean entertainment industry. I dove in, and while it wasn't exactly what I expected, I found it to be a compelling and unique read.

First Impressions

The setup is definitely intriguing. Our protagonist isn't some overpowered genius, but a regular guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances. His visions of the future are unpredictable, which creates a constant sense of tension and uncertainty. I appreciated that the story didn't rely on clichés like rebirth or reincarnation, opting instead for a more grounded (albeit supernatural) approach.

What Works Well

The characters are where this novel truly shines. The MC is likable and relatable, driven by a passion for his work and a desire to build a successful team. I found myself invested in the struggles and triumphs of the side characters as well. The author does a great job of fleshing out their personalities and motivations, making them feel like real people with their own ambitions and flaws. The narrative tension is palpable, and I found myself constantly eager to see what would happen next. The author balances the trials and successes of the MC perfectly.

Areas of Concern

The writing style can be a bit hectic at times. The frequent shifts in perspective and the abundance of internal monologue can disrupt the flow of the story. Also, I can see how some readers might find the MC's precognitive abilities a bit too convenient, even with their limitations.

Final Verdict

Despite its flaws, "Top Management" is a captivating read that I would recommend, however I would be remiss to not mention that the novel is currently on hiatus. This is a huge bummer, as the story had so much potential. Despite this, the novel is still worth reading.
