Description

The young master of the Huo Family was well-known in the Rong City. Having been brought up in a military, political, and business family, he was decisive in dealing with businesses, yet sexually continent as it was said. Nevertheless, he happened to fall in love with an illegitimate daughter. The disgraceful illegitimate daughter had been detested by her whole family, but suddenly won the love of the young master of the Huo Family. Since then, he turned into a “s*ave” of his wife and pampered her. Mrs. Huo: “They say I am an illegitimate daughter, and totally out of your league.” Master Huo: “Who has such a big mouth! I’m gonna sew it up!” Mrs. Huo started circling on his chest with a finger, “They also say you’ll get tired of me sooner or later.” Master Huo held his wife into his arms, proving his love to her with practical actions, “Nonsense! My wife’s body is soft and easy to be pushed down to bed, how come I will get tired of you!?” Mrs. Huo: “Pe*vert!”

To My Dear Mr. Huo Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

My Thoughts on To My Dear Mr. Huo

"To My Dear Mr. Huo" promised a light and fluffy romance, and while it delivers on some of that promise, I found myself ultimately conflicted by its execution. With the translation still ongoing, it's hard to give a definitive verdict, but I've got some thoughts based on what's available so far.

First Impressions

Initially, I was drawn in by the refreshing take on the male lead. Instead of the typical cold, expressionless CEO, Mr. Huo seemed to have a bit more personality and warmth. The early interactions between him and the female lead, Su Qingsang, were genuinely cute and fluffy, which made for easy reading. I appreciated that the story didn't immediately throw in overly-stupid side characters or rely on tired tropes.

What Works Well

One of the strongest points, for me, was the male lead's character. He's not the domineering type, and several readers seemed to enjoy that he respects the female lead's boundaries and doesn't force her into uncomfortable situations. The female lead is also seemingly smart and independent. I also appreciated that she tries to distance herself from her family situation, not allowing her status as an illegitimate daughter to define her.

Areas of Concern

However, as the story progressed, I started to see some cracks. A significant point of contention for me was the female lead's character development, or lack thereof. Some readers felt she was overly passive, naive, and even frustratingly oblivious to the events unfolding around her. This "white lotus" archetype, while perhaps not malicious, can still be tiresome.

Another issue that arose was the "dog blood" drama, which some felt overwhelmed the romance. It seemed like the female lead was constantly being rescued, unintentionally attracting unwanted attention, and facing irrational dislike from the male lead's family. This, coupled with the male lead's handling of certain situations, such as ambushing her with his entire social circle, detracted from the initial charm.

Final Verdict

"To My Dear Mr. Huo" has moments of lighthearted romance and a refreshing male lead, but the flaws in the female lead's character and the overwhelming drama ultimately held it back for me. It has potential, but whether it fully delivers depends on how the remaining story unfolds.
