I was immediately drawn in by the concept of a strong female lead, Yan Yan, determined to prioritize her career and financial independence after a painful past relationship. The idea of her not immediately falling back into the arms of the male lead, Meng Yi'an, was refreshing. The early chapters had a good hook, setting up a potentially satisfying revenge story.

Yan Yan's character, for the most part, is a definite highlight. The dream sequence where roles are reversed felt like a convenient plot device to justify the female lead's forgiveness. It did not feel earned or organic.
