A joke should have its limits! That really hurt! The knights kneeled on one knee before the prince: “Congratulations to the Pope for acquiring a divine beast.” Looking at the neat and gallant knights, Wei Xicheng placed his paw on their revered Pope’s head and meowed twice: “Divine beast, my foot!” *Mini-theatre no. 2:* Wei Xicheng, clad in white, stood facing the villainous boss, proclaiming loudly: “Today I swear to rid the world of this scourge.” The boss gently pushed aside the sword almost pointing at his nose, smiling indulgently: “Okay, baby, let’s talk about it at home.” Everyone: ??? Wei Xicheng: “Goodbye. :)” (Note: The mini-theatres are unrelated to the main plot but will drop in randomly during updates.) Important Notes 1. This novel was a bit of a mixed bag for me. "The Protagonist's Aura Expanded" promises a quick transmigration adventure filled with romance and comedy, and while it delivers on some of those fronts, it also left me wanting more depth. It's definitely a light read, perfect for when you want something easy to pick up and put down.
First Impressions
The premise is intriguing: an MC transmigrating through different worlds, embodying various characters. I was initially drawn in by the potential for diverse settings and character dynamics. The synopsis hints at a system rebellion, which added an extra layer of curiosity. However, my initial enthusiasm waned slightly as I delved deeper.
What Works Well
The novel shines in its lighthearted approach to the quick transmigration genre. Each arc is relatively short, making it easy to breeze through. I found the focus on the romance between the MC and ML to be a strong point, especially if you're primarily interested in that aspect. The fourth arc, featuring a cat demon MC and snake demon ML, was particularly cute and enjoyable. The author does a decent job of creating distinct scenarios in each world, offering a variety of settings from modern entertainment to cultivation realms.
Areas of Concern
One of my main issues was the pacing. Things felt rushed, especially in the romance development. I would have appreciated more fleshed-out plots and character development within each arc. The lack of a strong overarching plot and the abrupt endings of some worlds, such as the zombie arc, left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied. I also found the MC's initial dedication to "acting" his part a bit grating, though thankfully, this aspect diminishes as the story progresses. The system's sudden disappearance felt like a missed opportunity for deeper exploration.
