My Thoughts on The Law of Food Raising
"The Law of Food Raising" is a novel that initially piqued my interest with its blend of romance, slice of life, and supernatural elements. The premise seemed unique, especially with the cultivation and farming aspects woven into the narrative. However, diving into the story revealed a mixed bag of experiences, leaving me with a somewhat conflicted impression.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was a bit hesitant, especially concerning the relationship dynamics. The age gap between the main characters, coupled with the male lead's initial adoption of the female lead, raised some red flags for me. It felt like a potentially uncomfortable setup, and I struggled to reconcile the power imbalance.
What Works Well
Despite my reservations, the novel does have some redeeming qualities. The world-building, particularly the cultivation and farming aspects, is quite engaging. The action scenes are well-crafted and keep the story moving at a decent pace. I also appreciate the author's attempt to explore complex emotional themes, even if the execution falls short in some areas.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the character dynamics and the emotional execution. The male lead's actions and motivations felt problematic, and I struggled to understand his attraction to the female lead beyond superficial reasons. Additionally, the emotional plot twists, particularly those involving the enchantment, felt somewhat contrived and failed to resonate with me. The sheer number of children the main characters have also felt excessive and unnecessary, detracting from the overall narrative.

Final Verdict
Overall, "The Law of Food Raising" is a novel with potential that ultimately falls short of its aspirations. While the world-building and action scenes are commendable, the problematic character dynamics and weak emotional execution significantly detract from the overall experience. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. It's a quick read, but not one I can wholeheartedly recommend.
