Description
Yue Yin, one of the Outer Gods of the Void, loves nothing more than sleeping. Occasionally, she wakes up just to scare humans and create unsolved mysteries. After one such nap, she finds herself transmigrated into a modern supernatural novel as a throwaway side character. Her new identity? A cowardly, selfish, and foolish girl despised by her family. Out of jealousy toward her elder sister—the story’s protagonist—this original character was ultimately abandoned by the family. “Being human is great! You can enjoy delicious food, read comics, and play the latest games.” “But being human is exhausting! You have to study, take exams, and after getting kicked out, you still have to earn your own money.” Yue Yin decides she needs a follower—a hapless fool who can do her homework and fund her lifestyle. And she sets her sights on Jiang Suliu, the school’s most admired student. Jiang Suliu hails from an elite family, with sharp looks and excellent grades, known as the school’s “untouchable flower.” When his final school year begins, he finds himself with a new deskmate. Her name is Yue Yin—a girl so insignificant that no one in class notices her. Rumor has it that she’s a burden brought in by her stepmother from the Shen family, unloved by her parents and friendless. On their first day as deskmates, Yue Yin hands Jiang Suliu a flyer: “Would you like to learn about our Heavenly Father and Savior, Hydra, the Moon of a Thousand Faces?” Jiang Suliu assumes she’s seriously delusional. That night, the unexpected happens. The streets are thrown into chaos as grotesque monsters swarm the darkness, blotting out the night sky. Armed national forces respond, ready for battle. Unlucky enough to get dragged into the mess, Jiang Suliu looks up to see Yue Yin—wearing their school uniform—hovering above the scene. Chewing gum and holding a decree, she declares: “Clear the area.” In the blink of an eye, every monster drops to its knees in submission.

My Thoughts on The Law-Abiding Evil God
"The Law-Abiding Evil God" is definitely a unique read, and I can see why it's garnered so much positive attention. It's a blend of genres – fantasy, horror, and even a touch of school life – that shouldn't work, but somehow does. It's a story about an evil god trying to make a life for herself, which is a premise that I find very interesting.
First Impressions
From the start, I was intrigued by the concept of a truly evil female protagonist. So many stories label their characters as villainesses, but they quickly devolve into misunderstood heroines. This novel promised something different, and for the most part, it delivered. The initial chapters sucked me in with the main character's unapologetic nature and her "game-like" approach to navigating the modern world.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel is undoubtedly the main character. She’s an actual evil god, and she acts like it. She’s ruthless, but also shows a strange sort of kindness to those who gain her favor. This duality makes her compelling, and I found myself constantly wondering what she would do next. The world-building is also pretty interesting, with the concept of "evil thoughts" and superhumans battling against them adding a layer of supernatural intrigue. I also appreciate the humor sprinkled throughout, which helps to balance the darker elements of the story. The dynamic between the main character and her devoted follower is also a highlight. The one-sided devotion is fascinating, and it perfectly fits the dynamic of a god and her worshiper. I loved that the author stayed true to the main character's god persona and didn't force any unnecessary romance.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel overall, I do have a few minor gripes. The transmigration aspect feels somewhat underdeveloped. It's mentioned a few times, but it doesn't seem to significantly impact the plot. Removing it entirely might even strengthen the story by focusing solely on the god's descent to Earth.

Final Verdict
Despite some minor flaws, "The Law-Abiding Evil God" is a refreshing and entertaining read. It's a unique take on the isekai genre with a compelling protagonist and an intriguing world. If you're looking for a story that's a little bit dark, a little bit funny, and a whole lot different, then I highly recommend giving this one a try. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
