Description
Harrieta, the eldest daughter of a Viscount from the countryside, has a crush on Edwin, the heir to the most influential and wealthiest family in the kingdom. She knew it was a futile dream, so she didn’t say a word to him. And then the news of his engagement came suddenly. When Harrieta, who had been suffering from a broken heart, finally began to recover, she heard, “Learn their faces. From now on, these s*aves will live with us together here.” Edwin had come as a s*ave to Harrieta’s house. * * * “The more the restriction, the more the oppression will be. But Miss Harrieta… I’d be glad to accept it, if it were by you. “Wha… what?” Suddenly talking about restriction and oppression. Herrieta couldn’t understand Edwin’s strange request and asked him what he meant with a puzzled look. But instead of answering her question, Edwin silently pulled her hand close to him. “’I, Edwin, recognize you as my only lord and purpose of my existence….” Edwin bowed his head and kissed carefully on the back of her hand. His breath that brushed her hand, was hot. “…So please do not hesitate to wield me, as I am your faithful sword and your faithful servant.” It was part of the Knight’s pledge, the Pledge of Allegiance, that the knighted person would recite to his future lord. The noble and high Edwin, with whom she couldn’t even make eye contact once, was now at her feet.

The Gap Between You and Me Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on The Gap Between You and Me
"The Gap Between You and Me" has been quite the ride. Diving in, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I emerged with a lot of thoughts. It's a story that definitely evokes strong emotions, and while it has its flaws, it also boasts some truly compelling elements.
First Impressions
The initial chapters definitely present a bit of a hurdle. The female lead, Heritta, starts off quite young and infatuated, and I can see how some readers might find her early actions a bit… much. Her instant devotion to Edwin felt a little shallow at first, and I was almost turned off. However, I quickly realized that Heritta's actions are age-appropriate, and as she matures, so does the story.
What Works Well
The writing style is a major highlight. It's described as poetic and beautiful, and I agree that the atmosphere is perfectly supported by the prose. More than the writing, the characters are complex and realistically written. I also appreciate how the story delves into the characters' backgrounds and environments, showing how their upbringing shapes their decisions and actions. It makes them feel more human and relatable, even when I don't necessarily agree with their choices. I also loved the political intrigue that was introduced later on; it added a layer of depth that kept me engaged.
Areas of Concern
There are a few aspects that didn't quite land for me. Heritta's naivete, especially in the earlier parts of the story, can be frustrating. Some of her decisions felt a bit short-sighted, and I couldn't help but wish she'd been more proactive and less trusting. Also, the ending, while satisfying for some, felt a bit too convenient. I felt the male lead should have been held accountable for his actions.

Final Verdict
Overall, "The Gap Between You and Me" is a worthwhile read if you're willing to stick with it through the initial slow burn. The characters, the beautiful writing, and the intriguing plot twists make it a memorable experience. While it has some flaws, the strengths definitely outweigh the weaknesses, making it a solid 4 out of 5 stars in my book.
