Honestly, pinpointing elements that truly "work well" proved difficult. The idea of a ruthless protagonist, body tempering, and a romantic subplot are all appealing on paper. The novel promises a blend of fantasy, martial arts, and xuanhuan elements, which is a popular combination. Early romance is also a plus for some readers, and the story does deliver on that.

My main issue stems from the protagonist's decisions and motivations. The core conflict arises from the MC sacrificing his hard-earned cultivation to return to his clan, knowing they want him dead. This decision feels incredibly illogical. Why relinquish all that power just to return to a situation where he's vulnerable? Instead of recuperating and regaining strength in secret, he immediately announces his presence, drawing unwanted attention from jealous young masters and greedy individuals. This blatant disregard for self-preservation made it difficult for me to connect with the character or take his supposed ruthlessness seriously.
