I was immediately drawn in by the premise of a sharp-tongued female lead and a "gentleman-turned-pervert" male lead. The initial banter between them is undeniably entertaining. The translator did a great job of preserving the wit and humor, even if some phrases lost a little something in translation. I found myself chuckling at their early interactions.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its characters, particularly Qu Qing Yin, the female lead. She's clever, independent, and doesn't shy away from speaking her mind. The male lead, Liu Feng, while initially charming, undergoes a transformation that some readers may find off-putting, but I found his shameless pursuit of the MC entertaining. The romance moves quickly, and the story focuses more on the obstacles they face as a couple than the initial stages of their relationship.

While the banter is fun, I felt the plot itself was somewhat lacking. The wuxia elements, such as the mission to catch a rapist, felt rushed and underdeveloped. Several reviewers mentioned that the male lead's behavior veered into harassment, with unwanted kisses and boundary-pushing. While I didn't find it overly offensive, I can understand why some readers would be uncomfortable. I also felt that some of the secondary characters were forgettable, and the plot twists, while present, didn't have the impact they could have.
