First Impressions
The premise is intriguing: a protagonist transmigrating to become cannon fodder characters. The initial hook of the first world was strong, pulling me in with the tragic backstory of the original soul and the injustices she faced. However, as the story progressed, I found myself increasingly detached from the characters and the overall plot.
What Works Well
The author definitely isn't afraid to explore unconventional themes. The protagonist's apathetic nature is a refreshing change from the typical revenge-driven MC. Her focus on self-preservation is understandable, and in some ways, admirable. The first arc, in particular, held my attention with its darker themes and the initial setup of the world. I also appreciated the unique take on romance, or rather, the lack thereof. The story doesn't shy away from exploring complex relationships, even if they don't always lead to a happily ever after.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the execution. The plot logic felt flimsy at times, with resolutions appearing out of nowhere thanks to the actions of supporting characters. The second arc dragged on for far too long and became bogged down in melodrama. Character development was also lacking, making it difficult to invest in anyone's fate. It feels like the author introduced many interesting concepts but failed to fully develop them, leaving me with a sense of unfulfilled potential. Also, the constant sibling/incestuous undertones were a bit off-putting and felt unnecessary to the plot.
