Description

First Impressions
The initial setup is intriguing: a forced marriage between an easy-going alpha, Han Zhi, and a seemingly serene omega, Wen Zixian. The story is relatively short, which initially made me worry about rushed development, but the author manages to pack a lot of plot and character growth into a compact space.
What Works Well
I really appreciated Han Zhi's character. He's not the typical domineering alpha, but rather a sincere and caring individual. The slow-burn romance between him and Wen Zixian felt genuine, and I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve despite the circumstances. The author's writing style is quite serene, which added to the overall charm of the story. I also liked the representation of women in powerful roles. The female characters are given a chance at being human first. The successor for the Han family is a woman. Another successful CEO sortof character is also a woman. The world-building, especially the exploration of betas, alphas, and omegas, with a deeper dive into human experimentation, was a refreshing take on the genre.
Areas of Concern
The pacing, while generally good, felt a bit rushed towards the end. I was left with some unanswered questions about Wen Zixian's past and the true motives of certain characters. Some plot points felt a little underdeveloped, and I wished the author had explored them in more detail. For example, the specifics of Wen Zixian's mission and what he was supposed to find out about Han Zhi could have been fleshed out more. Some minor errors, like the gender change of a side character, also detracted slightly from the reading experience.
