Description
Those who are hunters and those who are the hunted have never intersected. For carnivores and herbivores, genes have already set the conclusion and cannot be changed. How do we move towards a future that is cold on the outside and hot on the inside? Jiang Huaiyu was adopted ten years ago from an orphanage, but instead of going home with the adopter, he stayed at the orphanage and was supported by Mr. Xiao. Now that he has graduated from University, his adopter wants to meet him, but he doesn’t think that his adopter would be a Carnivore who wants to raise this Herbivore up for a Master-Servant relationship. (It has ABO elements, and their relationship is very similar to an omega/alpha. The herbivore has a self-lubricating back hole.)

My Thoughts on Special Road
Alright, let's dive into "Special Road." After checking out what people are saying, I've got a pretty good feel for this novel. It seems to be a bit of a mixed bag, but definitely has some intriguing elements.
First Impressions
The initial hook definitely grabbed my attention. The "Hunger Games meets ABO meets Mafia" vibe is quite the combination! I'm always a sucker for childhood friends-to-enemies-to-lovers tropes, so that immediately piqued my interest. The fact that it's a complete original work is also a plus – I appreciate seeing fresh ideas in the web novel world.
What Works Well
From what I gather, the world-building seems to be a strong point. The setting, while drawing on familiar elements, appears to offer a slightly different take on the ABO dynamic, which is refreshing. I also noticed that the translation quality is getting some love, which is always a huge relief. A well-translated novel can make or break the reading experience. The promise of weekly chapter updates is also a nice touch, keeping readers engaged and coming back for more.
Areas of Concern
While the premise is exciting, some suggest the story itself is just "so-so," which is a bit of a letdown. It seems like it might be a decent light read, but perhaps not something that will blow your mind with intricate plot twists or profound character development. Given the mature themes and focus on romance and smut, the plot may be taking a backseat to the relationship dynamics. This might not be a problem for some readers (myself included, depending on my mood!), but it's worth noting.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Special Road" seems like a potentially enjoyable read, especially if you're a fan of the ABO genre and are looking for something a little different. Just go in with the expectation of a decent, light story rather than a groundbreaking masterpiece. The strong translation and unique setting might be enough to keep you hooked, even if the plot doesn't completely blow you away. I'm personally intrigued enough to give it a shot and see if it clicks with me.
