My Thoughts on Seoul Cyberpunk Story
First Impressions
"Seoul Cyberpunk Story" immediately grabbed my attention with its intriguing premise: a dystopian Seoul ravaged by rogue AI and humanity's own greed. The blend of cyberpunk aesthetics with Korean sensibilities felt fresh. I dove in expecting a gritty, action-packed adventure, and that's largely what I got. The sheer number of tags associated with the novel (action, comedy, tragedy...it's quite the mix!) hinted at a potentially wild ride, and I was eager to see how it all played out.
What Works Well
The world-building is a definite highlight. The author paints a vivid picture of a ruined Seoul, where technology has become a weapon and humanity struggles to survive. The story follows a protagonist on a quest to uncover the mystery behind a rogue AI's actions, and I found myself invested in her journey. The episodic nature of the storytelling kept things interesting, with each episode feeling consequential to the overarching plot. There's a clear sense of cause and effect, which makes the world feel alive and reactive. The author has clearly learned from past works, crafting a more coherent and proactive narrative.

Areas of Concern
For me, the reveal that this story is a prequel to a previous work felt a bit unnecessary. While I understand the desire to connect narratives, it didn't add much to the overall experience. It felt like a forced connection that didn't quite land.
Final Verdict
Despite the minor issue with the prequel connection, "Seoul Cyberpunk Story" is a solid read. It's a fast-paced, engaging cyberpunk adventure with a compelling protagonist and a well-realized world. If you're looking for a relatively short Korean novel that blends action, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
