Okay, so I dove into "Riling Up The Jianghu" with some pretty high hopes, given the martial arts and romance tags. The premise seemed interesting, and I was eager to see how it played out. After reading what others had to say, I have a clearer picture of what to expect.
First Impressions
The initial setup, with the MC, Huo Linfeng, being sent to Western-sky ridge due to political maneuvering, definitely grabbed my attention. The idea of him having to infiltrate the Palace Lords' territory as a spy, under the alias Du Zhong, felt like a solid starting point for some exciting plot developments. However, I can definitely see how the pacing might feel slow to some, especially in the early chapters.
What Works Well
The world-building seems to be a strong point. Descriptions are apparently quite vivid, creating a beautiful backdrop for the story. The dynamic between Huo Linfeng and Rong Luoyun, the ML, also holds promise. The "bickering couple" trope, combined with the ML being a somewhat lazy and tsundere character, could lead to some entertaining interactions. I also appreciate that both MC and ML are strong, but not overly OP, which allows for more believable conflicts and growth.
Areas of Concern
One potential sticking point seems to be the characterization of the ML.
