My Thoughts on Remarry the Farmer
"Remarry the Farmer" promised a cozy historical romance with a hint of the supernatural, but after diving in, I found myself a little disappointed. The initial premise of a reborn FL seeking a different life after a tragic first marriage was definitely intriguing, but the execution left something to be desired.
First Impressions
The initial chapters drew me in with the promise of a rural setting and a fresh start for the female lead. I was hoping for a story of resilience and self-discovery, where she would actively rebuild her life and find happiness. The setup had potential, especially with the "ancient China" backdrop, which always adds a layer of cultural richness.
What Works Well
The slice-of-life aspects were enjoyable at times. I appreciated the glimpses into rural life and the potential for a slow-burn romance with the farmer. The idea of escaping a toxic past and finding solace in a simpler existence was appealing. I also liked the initial concept of the FL using her past life knowledge to make better choices.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm waned as the story progressed. One of my biggest issues was the FL's passivity, even after her rebirth. Instead of taking decisive action, she seemed to waffle, making it difficult to root for her. I also found the family dynamics frustrating. The FL's family seemed unable to protect her, making it hard to sympathize with their situation. The story introduces many obstacles that the MC has to overcome, so many that it makes it hard to stay engaged.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Remarry the Farmer" had the potential to be a heartwarming and empowering story. However, the FL's lack of agency and the repetitive family drama ultimately detracted from my enjoyment. While the initial premise was promising, the execution fell short, leaving me feeling underwhelmed. I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
