My Thoughts on Real Fake Fiance
"Real Fake Fiance" is a short, complete romance novel that I recently dove into, and I have mixed feelings. It's one of those stories that you either vibe with or you don't, like a particular blend of tea. While it wasn't a standout for me, it certainly had its moments.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the premise of an arranged marriage and the hints of the supernatural. The shoujo romance tag piqued my interest, though I quickly realized the "comedy" tag might be a bit misleading; "supernatural" would be a more accurate descriptor. The first few chapters were a little rough around the edges, with a writing style that felt somewhat basic and repetitive.
What Works Well
Despite some initial reservations, I found the story to be a relatively quick and easy read. The plot, while somewhat predictable, did have a few surprising twists that kept me engaged. I especially appreciated the male lead's subtle intelligence and how the story progressed. The ending is a guaranteed happy one, which is always a plus if you're looking for some lighthearted fluff. I also found the female lead likable, and it's rare for me to root for the female MC more than the male.
Areas of Concern
One of my main issues was the lack of depth in the characters and their relationships. The chemistry between the leads felt somewhat forced, and their interactions often followed a predictable "chase and be chased" pattern. I also struggled to connect with the characters on a deeper level. The writing style, while simple, sometimes lacked the emotional nuance needed to make the story truly impactful. The plot also had holes in it that made it hard to get through.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Real Fake Fiance" is an okay read if you're looking for a short, uncomplicated romance to pass the time. It's not a must-read, but it's also not a complete waste of time. If you enjoy sweet, lighthearted stories with a touch of the supernatural, you might find it enjoyable. However, if you prefer stories with complex characters and a more nuanced plot, this one might not be for you. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
