Description
Sui Ning transmigrated into a novel, and, as soon as she opened her eyes, she found herself at the scene of an assassination attempt on someone else. A man dressed in white was covered in blood and holding a long sword. He was her target for conquest: Xie Changzhou. Xie Changzhou was the biggest villain in the original book, with a stunning appearance but a black heart. He caused chaos in the world of cultivation, disrupting peace and causing trouble. Sui Ning was chosen to stop him from turning into a villain. In order to return home, Sui Ning had to complete her conquest mission by saving Xie’s life, healing his injuries, finding medicine for him, and detoxifying him. Finally, when the mission was complete and she could see the halo of her return, Sui Ning excitedly said goodbye to the villain while carrying her small package. “I’m leaving now; be a good person from now on.” Amidst the towering flames, he stood with his ink-black hair flying and his body bathed in blood. His once gentle and compassionate eyes are now filled with cruelty and paranoia. The system, which had already disappeared, hastily came back online. “Host, the book transmigration agency made a mistake. Xie Changzhou is not the villain; he is the male lead!” Sui Ning: “The agency has caused me a lot of trouble.” When Xie Changzhou was in danger, he met a woman who didn’t want him to become the White Jade Sword Saint and sit on the high platform but just wanted him to be Xie Changzhou. She saved his life, helped him detox, and constantly urged him to be a good person, even mumbling to him when he was drunk to prevent him from becoming bad. At first, he was only helpless, as his heart was focused on the well-being of the people, and he had no intention of becoming a bad person. But later, he wanted to become a little worse so that he could keep her by his side without any hesitation. Forever and ever, never to be separated.

My Thoughts on Oops! I Mistook the Target of My Strategy. Now What?
I went into "Oops! I Mistook the Target of My Strategy. Now What?" expecting a lighthearted comedy with a dash of romance, and while it delivered on some of those fronts, it also surprised me with its complexity and, at times, its uneven pacing. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but not without its flaws.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing: a transmigrator tasked with preventing a villain from blackening. The initial setup hooked me in, especially the dynamic between the female lead (FL) and the male lead (ML). The early arcs were full of adventure and mystery, drawing me into their world and making me eager to see how their relationship would develop. I was particularly interested in the FL's system and how it would guide her actions.
What Works Well
The romance is undeniably a strong point. Many readers praised the ML's character development, particularly his journey from a "white jade gentleman" to someone deeply in love with the FL. His flustered reactions to her "erotica novel collection" (as one reader delightfully put it) were genuinely amusing. The blackening of the ML, while some found it rushed, was a satisfying payoff for those who were invested in his character arc. I also appreciated the action and drama surrounding the fight between good and evil, even though it sometimes came at the expense of the "good guys."
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the pacing became a significant issue for me, as it did for many others. The ending felt rushed, leaving some plot threads unresolved. I noticed several reviewers mentioned unanswered questions, such as the fate of certain side characters and the disappearance of the system. The FL's reliance on the ML in earlier arcs also bothered me; it would have been nice to see her become more self-sufficient sooner.
Final Verdict
"Oops! I Mistook the Target of My Strategy. Now What?" is a mixed bag. While the romance and initial mystery are engaging, the uneven pacing and unresolved plot points detract from the overall experience. It's a fun read, but I'm not sure I'd revisit it. If you're looking for a story with a doting ML and a complex plot, it's worth checking out, but be prepared for some frustration along the way.
