Description
There was an old story that circulated for quite a long time, a story that happened in the City of Maretilin, about two necromancers and a hero who conquered them, a wandering magician named Leder. After the story, though no such record supported it, there really was a magician named Leder who passed the magicians’ tests. All the magician organizations on the grand land, from the Necromancers’ Union in the south to the Tower of The Wise in the north, agreed that Leder was the most powerful magician in history. They called him “The Grand Wise.”

Alright, let's dive into "Necromancer." I went in with a bit of trepidation, seeing that the overall rating was a little rough, but I always try to keep an open mind. This xuanhuan mystery with a necromantic twist definitely had some interesting elements that kept me reading, but also a few things that gave me pause.
First Impressions
The start was definitely... different. It wasn't the typical power-fantasy beginning I've come to expect from this genre, and I appreciated that. It felt almost fairytale-esque, which was a refreshing change of pace. I was intrigued by the initial world-building and the hints of mystery surrounding the protagonist's abilities.

The unique fairytale vibe really stood out for me. It lent the story a distinct flavor that sets it apart from the usual cultivation novels. I also enjoyed the detailed descriptions; they helped paint a vivid picture of the world and its inhabitants. The author clearly has a knack for creating an atmosphere, and when the story hits its stride, it's quite captivating. The mystery aspect is woven in nicely, keeping you guessing about the bigger picture and the protagonist's role in it all.

While I enjoyed the detailed descriptions, at times, they felt a little disconnected from the main narrative. It's almost as if the story meanders a bit, losing its focus. However, it also suffers from pacing issues and a slightly disjointed narrative. Despite its flaws, I think it has potential, and I'm curious to see where the author takes the story. If you're looking for something a little different within the xuanhuan genre and are willing to be patient with its quirks, it might be worth giving "Necromancer" a try.
