My Thoughts on My Master Raised Me to Death
First Impressions
Alright, let's dive into My Master Raised Me to Death. My initial impression was definitely one of "aww, cute!" The premise of a master raising a child disciple in a xianxia setting, told from the disciple's perspective, had me hooked immediately. I was expecting a fluffy, heartwarming read with maybe a touch of humor, and for the most part, that's what I got.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this story is undoubtedly the adorable MC. His voice, conveyed through the first-person narration, is incredibly endearing. He's silly, he loves meat buns (a lot), and his interactions with his master are genuinely funny. The writing style itself is simple and easy to follow, which perfectly suits the child's point of view. It feels like reading a diary, filled with innocent observations and a whole lot of heart. I found myself smiling throughout most of it, and that's always a good sign. It really nails the fluffy, feel-good vibe it seems to be aiming for.
Areas of Concern
My main concern, and it seems I'm not alone here, is the length. Or rather, the lack thereof. While the story is undeniably cute and enjoyable, it feels incredibly short. It leaves you wanting more, which, in some ways, is a good thing, but it also feels a bit unsatisfying. I was hoping for a deeper dive into the master-disciple relationship, a more developed plot, and just... more of everything. The story has a lot of potential, but it needs more substance to truly shine.
Final Verdict
Overall, My Master Raised Me to Death is a sweet and charming little read. It's perfect for a quick pick-me-up when you're in the mood for something light and fluffy. While it could definitely benefit from being longer and more fleshed out, the adorable MC and the humorous writing make it an enjoyable experience nonetheless. I'm giving it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's cute, it's fun, but it leaves you wanting more. I'm hoping the author expands on this world and these characters in the future!
