Description
Liang Xusheng, pressured by his mother for years to get married, finally snapped one day. He slammed his hand on the table and declared to his best friend, Lu Xun, “Your mom’s hounding you to get married, my mom’s hounding me to get married. Your mom wants you to find someone from a similar background, my mom wants me to find someone no worse off than our family. Our moms are best friends, and we’re practically childhood sweethearts. Let’s just get married!” Lu Xun was silent for three seconds. On the fourth, he nodded. “Okay, let’s get married.” Liang Xusheng thought marrying his bro Lu Xun meant freedom from his mother’s nagging and a blissful continuation of his otaku lifestyle, filled with anime and games. He couldn’t have been more wrong. Little did he know that the small changes he made to decorate their marital home, perfectly in line with both their tastes, actually hit the bullseye of Lu Xun’s ideal vision of a home. The few meals he cooked for Lu Xun, waiting for him to come home and eat together, aligned perfectly with Lu Xun’s yearning for married life. Even his accidentally exposed long, fair legs happened to be exactly Lu Xun’s aesthetic preference. As a result, while Liang Xusheng remained relatively unfazed by married life, Lu Xun, right under his nose, had fallen head over heels in love. Liang Xusheng’s view of Lu Xun: My bro. Lu Xun’s view of Liang Xusheng: Wife, wife, wife.

My Thoughts on Married to My Bro
"Married to My Bro" promised a fluffy, feel-good romance, and for the most part, it delivered. The premise of childhood best friends entering a fake marriage that blossoms into something real is undeniably appealing. While I had a few reservations, I ultimately found it to be a sweet, lighthearted read perfect for when you want something easy to enjoy.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the initial dynamic between the two leads, Liang Xusheng and Lu Xun. The comedy stemming from their friendship and the unusual circumstances of their marriage was genuinely funny. The setup is great, and I could easily see the potential for a heartwarming story.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel is the sweet and doting nature of Lu Xun, the male lead. He falls first and is very attentive to Liang Xusheng. I appreciated that the author didn't make him controlling, allowing for a healthy dynamic between the two. Plus, the story is relatively short and doesn't overstay its welcome. The communication between the characters is also a major plus; they talk through their issues, which prevents unnecessary drama. The families are also very supportive.
Areas of Concern
Liang Xusheng's characterization became a bit grating for me. While some found his spoiled nature amusing initially, his immaturity sometimes felt a little too childish. His emotional reactions felt disproportionate at times, especially when compared to Lu Xun's more measured approach. There was also a detail that Lu Xun said about wanting his wife to be a homemaker, which rubbed me the wrong way.

Final Verdict
Despite some minor flaws in characterization, "Married to My Bro" is a worthwhile read if you're looking for a sweet, uncomplicated yaoi romance. The doting love interest, the fake marriage turned real trope, and the focus on communication make it a genuinely heartwarming story. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants a light and fluffy escape.
