First Impressions
Okay, so I dove into "Indulgent Husband and Sweet Wife" with pretty standard expectations for a modern romance. The title itself paints a clear picture: a doting husband and his, presumably, equally lovable wife. The tags – comedy, josei, slice of life – further sweetened the deal. I was hoping for a lighthearted read, something easy to pick up after a long day. Did it deliver? Well, it's complicated.
What Works Well
The premise, I think, is inherently appealing. Who doesn't love the idea of a ridiculously supportive partner? The "older love interests" tag also intrigued me; I'm always interested in seeing how authors handle age-gap relationships, especially when they're done well. When the writing and translation are at their best, the slice-of-life aspects are genuinely enjoyable. There are moments of pure fluff and sweetness that can bring a smile to your face.
