My Thoughts on I Will Divorce the Female Lead’s Siscon Brother
"I Will Divorce the Female Lead’s Siscon Brother" promised a refreshing take on familiar tropes, and for a while, it really delivered. The premise alone – escaping a suffocatingly obsessive family dynamic – hooked me instantly. While the story stumbled in the second half, the initial chapters were engaging and thought-provoking.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the unique perspective. The story cleverly flips the script on the "doting family" trope, showcasing how their obsessive behavior is, frankly, creepy and unhealthy from an outsider's point of view. Watching the protagonist navigate this bizarre situation, armed with her wits and a burning desire for a peaceful divorce, was incredibly satisfying.
What Works Well
The first half of the novel shines. The divorce process is a central focus, and I found myself rooting for the protagonist every step of the way. The author does a great job highlighting the absurdity of common romance tropes, particularly the "evil family becomes obsessed with a cute darling" scenario. The original female lead (OGFL) is also portrayed as intelligent and manipulative, making her a compelling antagonist. The male lead, though a bit slow-burn, is likable and offers a refreshing contrast to the chaotic family dynamics.
Areas of Concern
My biggest disappointment lies in the latter half of the story. After the divorce is finalized, the plot loses its focus and becomes somewhat generic. Several readers pointed out that the unique anti-trope theme fades away, replaced by more conventional fantasy elements. The story shifts, and I found myself less invested in the direction it took. Some plot points felt rushed or underdeveloped, like the sudden appearance of a biological mother.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "I Will Divorce the Female Lead’s Siscon Brother" is a worthwhile read, especially if you're looking for a fresh take on overused tropes. The strong start and unique premise make it stand out, even if the execution falters in the second half. I'd recommend going into it with tempered expectations and enjoying the ride while it lasts. The novel earns a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars from me.
