My Thoughts on I Only Treat Villains
I Only Treat Villains has been on my radar ever since I saw the manhwa promo, and I was excited to dive into the novel. While the premise is undeniably intriguing, my experience has been a bit of a mixed bag.
First Impressions
The initial hook is strong: a protagonist with incredible healing abilities who, for reasons yet fully explored, chooses a quiet life instead of exploiting her powers for wealth. This immediately sets up a sense of mystery. Then, the "villain" of the story stumbles into her life, injured, and things get even more interesting. I was ready for a fun ride.
What Works Well
Many readers, myself included, appreciate the unique dynamic between the MC and the villain. He's not your typical brooding, evil type – at least, not all the time. The hints of a split personality add a layer of intrigue, and the author does a decent job of balancing the lighthearted moments with the darker undertones of the characters' pasts. The potential for romance is definitely there, and I'm eager to see how their relationship develops. I also appreciate the MC's hands-off approach to the original novel's plot. She's trying to avoid getting involved, which creates a fun tension.
Areas of Concern
However, I can't ignore some of the criticisms I've seen. The pacing can be slow, with some scenes dragging on longer than necessary. The writing style, while not terrible, sometimes feels a bit too descriptive, focusing on aesthetics over substance. I found myself wanting more "showing" and less "telling." The MC's internal monologues, while meant to provide insight, occasionally feel repetitive and don't always add much to the story.

Final Verdict
Overall, I Only Treat Villains is a novel with a lot of potential, but it's not without its flaws. While the premise and characters are engaging, the pacing and writing style could use some tightening. I'm still invested enough to continue reading, hoping the author will address some of these issues as the story progresses. I'd give it a tentative 3.5/5. It's worth checking out, especially if you enjoy stories with unique character dynamics and a touch of mystery, but be prepared for a slower burn.
