My Thoughts on I Check In to Survive the Apocalypse
"I Check In to Survive the Apocalypse" promised a thrilling blend of genres – fantasy, romance, and shoujo, all set against the backdrop of a zombie-infested world. While the premise intrigued me, my experience with the novel was somewhat mixed.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the idea of a transmigrated female protagonist armed with a system in a post-apocalyptic world. The early chapters painted a picture of a cultivator thrown into a desperate fight for survival, and I was eager to see how she would navigate this new reality.
What Works Well
The initial concept of the system providing rewards for checking in to various locations held a certain appeal. The idea of a magical space and mutated creatures added layers to the world-building, hinting at exciting possibilities. The beginning of the story, where the FL had to strive to survive, was enjoyable.
Areas of Concern
However, as I delved deeper, some issues started to surface. The biggest one, for me, was the rapid power-up of the main character (MC). While I don't mind a strong protagonist, the system seemed to shower her with gifts a bit too easily. From powerful weapons to unique superpowers like fire and wood, the MC’s journey felt less like a struggle for survival and more like a leisurely stroll through the apocalypse. It felt like the system was working harder than the MC.
The perceived convenience of the system rewards also detracted from the sense of adventure and thrill that I typically look for in these types of novels. The obstacles felt less challenging, and the solutions often appeared too readily, making the overall experience feel somewhat bland.

"I Check In to Survive the Apocalypse" had the potential to be a captivating read, but the overly convenient power-ups and questionable plot developments ultimately hindered my enjoyment. If you're looking for a light, relatively worry-free read with a strong female lead, this might be up your alley. However, if you prefer a more challenging and nuanced survival story, you might find this one lacking.
