Description
The heroine entered a novel as the saintess that walked a th**ny path. However, she did not desire the bleak road, instead opting to walk on a flowery path by abandoning the frustrating original timeline and adopting a father. “You, be my daddy!” Turns out he’s the final boss and villain which worked out just as well. “Daddy, why is your name daddy? So cute. What did you eat for breakfast? Handsomeness?” As she dreamt of a happy ending with her daddy, a huge obstacle stood in her path: the existence of the hero destined to annihilate the final boss. Since it’s come to this, the heroine decided to save her father and the hero. Maybe the world, too, if she had the time. But her daddy is being a pain…he keeps raising death flags and now the hero’s obsessed over her, asking to take responsibility for taming him. Just what is going on?

I Adopted A Villainous Dad Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on I Adopted A Villainous Dad
"I Adopted A Villainous Dad" is a web novel that definitely grabbed my attention with its unique premise. After stumbling upon the promotional material, I was intrigued by the idea of a protagonist adopting a villainous father figure, especially when that dynamic clashes with the male lead. It's a fun twist on the usual isekai tropes.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the cuteness and humor. The idea of a character essentially "fangirling" within her favorite story is relatable, and the potential for heartwarming father-daughter moments was definitely a draw. I went in expecting a lighthearted read, and the early chapters delivered on that promise.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel, in my opinion, is the dynamic between the female lead and her adopted father. The cuteness and the development of their bond are genuinely enjoyable. I can see why many readers found it to be a heartwarming experience, especially if you enjoy father-daughter stories. There's also a certain charm in seeing the FL navigate the world with her knowledge of the original story, even if she sometimes acts more like a fan than a strategic player.
Areas of Concern
However, as I read on, I started to see some of the issues that others have pointed out. The plot can feel a bit meandering at times, with the story getting bogged down in slice-of-life moments that don't always contribute to the overall narrative. I also noticed that the male lead sometimes feels like a side character, which is a shame since the initial premise suggested a more significant conflict between him and the adopted father.
Another thing that bothered me was the FL's behavior towards other children. While she's mentally an adult, her actions sometimes felt unprovoked and immature, which detracted from my enjoyment of the story. It's a tricky balance to strike, and I think the author could have handled it with more nuance.

Final Verdict
Overall, "I Adopted A Villainous Dad" is a mixed bag. While the father-daughter relationship and the initial humor are definitely appealing, the pacing issues, underdeveloped plot points, and questionable character decisions hold it back from being a truly great novel. If you're looking for a lighthearted, cute read with a focus on family dynamics, this might be worth checking out. However, be prepared for some frustrating moments and a plot that doesn't always live up to its potential. I'd give it a tentative recommendation, but with the caveat that it's not without its flaws.
