Description

The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

My Thoughts on Heroic Death System
"Heroic Death System" is quite the rollercoaster! With its blend of action, comedy, fantasy, and a healthy dose of tragedy, I went in expecting a wild ride, and I wasn't disappointed. This novel definitely has its strengths, but it's also not without its flaws, leaving me with mixed feelings overall.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed me: a protagonist, Shang Ke, forced to transmigrate to different worlds with the mission of dying heroically. The tragedy tag is definitely earned. I found myself quickly invested in each arc, curious to see how Shang Ke would navigate the challenges and ultimately meet his end. The promise of "redo" arcs, where he gets a chance at a happy ending with the male lead, was also a major draw.
What Works Well
Many readers praised the creativity and originality of the arcs, and I have to agree. Each world felt distinct, with its own unique rules and challenges. I particularly enjoyed the character development of Shang Ke. He starts as a relatively simple guy, but grows into someone truly remarkable, even becoming a bit of a seductress along the way! The romance, when it works, is undeniably sweet. The unconditional love between Shang Ke and the ML in several arcs is really heartwarming.
Areas of Concern
However, it's impossible to ignore the significant criticisms surrounding the male lead. Several reviewers found him to be problematic, citing instances of non-consensual acts and possessive behavior. I can see why some readers would be extremely turned off by this, and I feel it's important to approach this aspect of the novel with caution. Also, the ending felt incredibly rushed and unsatisfying. It's a shame because the build-up was so strong, but the conclusion definitely left me wanting more.
