Description
Zhao Peng was reborn three times and married Qin Shuhuai three times. When he was still a hostage at the age of sixteen, she married him as a princess, and he had her killed; When he became a prince at the age of twenty, she married him as a female general, and he had her mu*dered; When he became a duke at the age of twenty-five, she married him as the prime minister’s daughter, and he poisoned her to death. She swore she would never marry him again. When she opened her eyes again, Zhao Peng had become the grand princess who had assisted her younger brother in ascending the throne, had been widowed for ten years, who was infatuated with her extraordinary brother-in-law, and also the only opponent that the current regent Qin Shuhuai respected and did not dare to touch. Faced with this identity, Zhao Peng was so excited that she couldn’t help but cry bitterly. She finally doesn’t have to marry him in this lifetime. Qin Shuhuai, who had held onto Zhao Peng’s memorial tablet for six years, discovered that this widowed grand princess looked very much like his wife who died young.

My Thoughts on Fourth Marriage
"Fourth Marriage" is a web novel that certainly took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. With its blend of fantasy, historical elements, and romance, it had all the ingredients for a captivating read. However, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag, leaving me with some reservations despite the intriguing premise.
First Impressions
The setup is undeniably compelling: a princess reborn multiple times, each life ending tragically as the wife of the same man. The initial mystery surrounding the male lead and the circumstances of her deaths immediately drew me in. The idea of reincarnation, political intrigue, and a potentially complicated romance had me eager to dive into the story.
What Works Well
I appreciated the depth of the characters, particularly the female lead, Zhao Peng. Her weariness from repeated betrayals and her desire for a peaceful life resonated with me. I enjoyed her attempts to mask her vulnerabilities with boldness and a seemingly carefree attitude. The male lead, Qin Shuhuai, also had his moments. His cold exterior hiding a deeply insecure and hurt individual made him a compelling, if flawed, character. The novel explores themes of trust, responsibility, and the impact of past traumas on relationships, which added a layer of emotional complexity to the story. The relationship between Zhao Peng and her brother from Yan Kingdom also struck a chord, offering a touching glimpse of familial love amidst the political machinations.
Areas of Concern
While the premise is strong, I found myself getting frustrated with some aspects of the plot. The characters, despite being portrayed as intelligent and powerful, often seemed to fall for obvious schemes and traps. This created a sense of disconnect, as their actions didn't always align with their supposed cunning. This made the plot drag on longer than necessary.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Fourth Marriage" is a novel with a lot of potential. While it has its flaws, particularly in the execution of the plot and the consistency of the characters' intelligence, the emotional depth and intriguing premise kept me somewhat engaged. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, advising readers to be prepared for some frustrating moments amidst the captivating storyline.
