One is from the modern world and carries a pocket space, while the other is from a post-apocalyptic world and endowed with a supernatural power. One fears marriage, while the other has suffered a cruel betrayal. As travellers, both found themselves in the Great Yi Dynasty. One had become the sickly son of a county magistrate, while the other became a well-known bum in some impoverished backwater town. Because of a marriage mandate issued by the imperial court, these two men, each with their own aspirations, soon found themselves bound through the bond marriage. ~One day~ Young Master: “Can someone go check to see if that bum is lazing around?” Lazy Bum: “Oh. You’re still alive, huh?” Young Master: “…” Lazy Bum: “…” After being forced into a couple, the two wolves in sheep’s clothing were fully committed to their act of being weak. Both hoped the other would give up the charade first so the other could be alone and free.

My Thoughts on Forced Couple: Husband x Husband
"Forced Couple: Husband x Husband" promised a blend of historical fantasy, romance, and a touch of the supernatural, and while it delivered on some fronts, it also left me with mixed feelings. The premise – two transmigrators in an arranged marriage in ancient China – is undeniably intriguing, and the "enemies to lovers" trope is always a draw for me.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the world-building and the dynamic between Ji Yu and Cang Xingye. The story dives right into their forced marriage, and I was eager to see how their relationship would unfold amidst the backdrop of ancient China. The blend of fantasy elements, particularly the "hidden abilities," added another layer of intrigue that kept me invested early on.
What Works Well
The author clearly put thought into crafting the world and its characters. I found the portrayal of the Cang family, and their doting affection for Cang Xingye, to be quite endearing. The protagonists' resourcefulness, leveraging their knowledge from their previous lives to improve their circumstances, was also well-executed. Seeing them use their modern knowledge to create successful businesses, from pharmacies to restaurants, felt like a natural progression and added a layer of depth to their characters. The plot moves at a decent pace, and I never felt like the story was dragging unnecessarily.

Areas of Concern
While the plot is engaging, the emotional connection between the characters felt somewhat rushed. The protagonists accept their feelings for each other relatively quickly, which made their romance feel less developed than I would have liked. The writing style takes some getting used to.
Final Verdict
"Forced Couple: Husband x Husband" has its strengths, particularly in its world-building and resourceful characters. However, the plot twist regarding the gong and shou dynamic and the somewhat rushed emotional development might not appeal to all readers. If you're open to unexpected turns and enjoy a blend of fantasy and romance, it might be worth a try. For me, it's a solid 3/5 stars.
