My Thoughts on First Love Code
"First Love Code" promised a rollercoaster of emotions, and while it delivered in some respects, it also left me with a few reservations. This older woman/younger man romance definitely has its charms, but it's not without its complexities.
First Impressions
The premise is straightforward: a successful actress pursues a younger, aspiring actor. The initial hook is strong, with the "enemies to lovers" trope adding a layer of spice. I was immediately drawn in by the potential for comedic bickering and the promise of a caring protagonist.
What Works Well
The chemistry between the leads is undeniable. Their interactions are often hilarious, and the author does a good job of portraying the palpable tension between them. I appreciated the male lead's characterization; he's not just a cold, emotionless figure, but a "cute wolf cub" with genuine feelings. The female lead is assertive and knows what she wants, which I found refreshing. The plot progression kept me engaged, and I found myself rooting for them to overcome their challenges.
Areas of Concern
The age gap is definitely a central issue. While the author addresses it, some readers (myself included) might find the power dynamics uncomfortable. The female lead's initial pursuit of the male lead, while he was fresh out of high school, raises some eyebrows. I also felt that the relationship was somewhat unequal, with the male lead consistently making more sacrifices. There was a sense that the female lead's actions were sometimes selfish, and I wished to see more emotional vulnerability from her.

"First Love Code" is an enjoyable read if you're willing to overlook its flaws.
