"Female with Fairy Bell" promised a xianxia adventure with a strong female lead, and while it had some intriguing elements, my overall experience was mixed. It's a completed original, but the translation is still ongoing, which might color my perspective a bit.

Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. A female protagonist navigating the complexities of cultivation, potentially with less emphasis on romantic entanglements than some other novels in the genre? That sounded promising. The world-building seemed decent enough, setting the stage for a potentially engaging story.
What Works Well
The early focus on the protagonist's personal cultivation journey was definitely a plus. I enjoyed seeing her develop her skills and navigate the challenges of the xianxia world. The inclusion of artifacts and elements of Buddhism added layers of depth and intrigue. The initial world-building was also well done, setting the stage for a rich and complex world.
Areas of Concern
However, I did find some aspects less satisfying. The plot seemed to shift its focus later on, becoming more about the relationships between the MC, the villain, and the original heroine.
