My Thoughts on Dream Breaker
"Dream Breaker" had me hooked from the start with its intriguing premise. A world where aptitude tests determine your fate? I was immediately curious. This isn't your typical system novel, and that's a breath of fresh air. The story follows a protagonist dealt a strange hand – the aptitude of "Shaman" – leading him down a path he never expected.
First Impressions
The initial chapters set the stage effectively. We're introduced to a protagonist who's pragmatic, diligent, and trying to make ends meet. His reaction to his unusual aptitude felt genuine and relatable. I appreciated that the story doesn't throw everything at you at once; instead, the world and its mysteries unfold gradually as he figures things out. The prologue gives you a taste of what's to come: journeying into the dream worlds of comatose individuals to help them return to reality. It's a unique concept, and it's executed well.
What Works Well
What really stood out to me was the episodic nature of the story, with the main plot weaving in and out of these dream-diving adventures. The first arc, an emotional Groundhog Day scenario, was particularly well-done and wrapped up satisfyingly. The character interactions are also a strong point. The side characters feel alive and memorable, adding depth to the narrative. The protagonist is likable, and his character growth is evident as he learns from his experiences. I found myself invested in his journey and his relationships with the heroines, especially the first one, which was genuinely heartwarming. The author also does a great job of creating distinct and interesting scenarios within each dream world.

Final Verdict
"Dream Breaker" is a surprisingly good read. It offers a fresh take on the fantasy genre, with a unique plot, well-developed characters, and engaging storytelling. If you're tired of the usual tropes and looking for something different, I highly recommend giving this novel a try. I'd say give the first arc a shot, and if you like it, you'll probably love the rest.
