My Thoughts on Desire Me If You Can
"Desire Me If You Can" is a wild ride, and I found myself thoroughly entertained despite some reservations. This novel plunges you into a world of complex relationships, alpha/omega dynamics, and characters who are anything but simple. It's definitely a mature read, tackling themes that might not be for everyone, but if you're looking for something engaging and a little bit twisted, this might be right up your alley.
First Impressions
Coming into this novel, I was prepared for a morally gray protagonist in Grayson. He's definitely a character you love to hate, and the story doesn't shy away from his flaws. I was immediately intrigued by his complexities. Dane, on the other hand, seemed more straightforward at first, but his character arc proved to be just as compelling. I was hooked from the start, eager to see how these two very different men would navigate their tumultuous relationship.
What Works Well
The character development is a major strength of this novel. Both Grayson and Dane undergo significant transformations, influenced by each other and their pasts. The author does a great job of revealing their backstories gradually, adding layers of depth to their personalities. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between Dane and his best friend Josh; their banter and camaraderie provided much-needed levity amidst the heavier themes. The story is also consistently funny, which helps to balance out the more intense moments. The slow-burn romance is well-executed, making the eventual payoff all the more satisfying.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel overall, I can see how Grayson's actions might be a sticking point for some readers. He makes questionable choices, and his motivations aren't always clear. It takes time to understand his perspective, and even then, forgiveness might not come easily. I also felt that the explanation for Grayson's behavior, while providing context, didn't fully excuse his actions.

Final Verdict
Despite my reservations about certain aspects of Grayson's character, I found "Desire Me If You Can" to be a captivating and thought-provoking read. The complex relationships, strong character development, and consistent humor kept me engaged from beginning to end. If you're looking for a romance with morally gray characters and a healthy dose of drama, I recommend giving this novel a try.
